Rather than just learn about a cell and then pass a test, students were given the opportunity to learn about the CELL as a system and then compare it to a system of their choosing. They were able to use their knowledge of a cell to improve the functioning of their system. A grade 6 student learns about the different organelles of a cell and gets inspired by the cell membrane! He then uses his knowledge gained from a cell to innovate a solution to a problem in his IPAD system.
