It begin with a class talk about what do good problem solvers do and then the students dove into the measurement problem! The room was full of math thinkers, approaching the problem using a variety of strategies from representing addition with unifix cubes, to building the picture with base 10 blocks, deconstructing numbers to add, sharing thinking, risk-taking, celebrating learning and the best part...happy student faces while problem solving!!!!!
